#5: Wanna One 1st Fanmeeting in Bangkok

Annyeonghaseyo! This week it's collaborated blog. we, Natcha and Wanthida, will be sharing our experience about our favourite korean boy band’s fanmeet, WANNA ONE 1st Fan Meeting in Bangkok: WANNA Be LovEd. we are overwhelmingly really excited to share the moments from Wanna One’s First International Fanmeeting!

Let’s begin with the nerve wrecking story of how we got the tickets. On 2nd September, the tickets were on sale at 10 am sharp on both Thai Ticket Major website and counter at specific department stores. We decided to both try to buy the tickets, Natcha via the website and Wanthida via the counter. By 10 o’clock, the website started later than usual and the line is super long at the counter. (Check out wanthida’s last blog for the sad story at the counter)  Even though we tried our best, we still could not get the tickets. Eventually, stubhub.com came to our rescue. It's a website where you can buy and seek tickets. Of course they were expensive. (Again check out her last blog for the price). super expensive ㅜ ㅜ.

On the big day, We were very very excited!! the first thing we did after arriving at the venue, Bitec Bangna was to go get the plastic tickets and official posters (which were complimentary). 

We had 3 whole hours to spare as we arrived at 3:00 p.m and the event wouldn't start before 6:00 p.m. good for us, there were a lot of people making a living out of these boys. Light sticks, posters, fans, key rings, T-shirts, funny face masks, albums, magazines, and anything under the sun that can have faces of the boys on it was sold. Both official merch and fan made. You name it, they had it.

We ourselves bought some stuff; 1st look magazines, which gave  Wanna one their first photoshoot and first time as cover page models, fan made lightsticks because we are broke that we can’t afford the official lightstick ㅠ ㅠ (the tickets bankrupted us). Since we both stan different guys, we bought separate merch too. Some really dedicated fans also distributed free photocards to the crowd. Oh, forgot to mention, it was hella crowded.

By around 5 pm, the staffs let the audiences to go in the hall (hall 106). The line going into the hall was looooong! Perks of having one of the most expensive tickets, we get to go in first.

Finally, we got into the fan meeting hall! Unfortunately, our seats are quite very near the main stage, but it is still visible and close enough to see them.

It’s Showtime!!

The event starts with the video explaining about the rules narrated by Wanna one and opening VTR. Just these two short videos were enough to make us excited. Sorry, we could not take a lot of pictures of videos of the events as it was prohibited but we did manage some. (Don't report us. It's for educational purposes)

They had a grand entrance as their song ‘나야 나 (Pick me)’ started playing and the stage lit up (I’m dying ㅜ ㅜ ㅜ ㅜ). Our hearts raced when we saw them walking to the front of the stage. They are all look 100 times better in real life, like angels from heaven. especially Ong Seongwoo (Wanthida’s bias) and Lai Kuanlin (Natcha’s bias). They are our bias for a reason.

Our fangirl mode activated the moment we saw them to the maximum and Wanthida wouldn't stop crying and screaming on top of her lungs (lol). (I was not crying! They were tears of joy)

Now that you know how these beautiful souls look, let's proceed to the show. DJ Nui hosted the show. He joked a bit, talked a little, all mandatory actions that hosts do for entertainment, but let's be real, no one cared, everyone just wanted to see the guys. (Didn't mean to sound rude.)

The theme being school, they started with their classes, language being first. Daniel had a message that he wanted to say to his fans. The challenge being, the host would translate it in Thai and they had to to speak it.

After language class, the members can show their drawing skills in the art class. DJ Nui gave the mission to the members to draw a picture on the individuals’ left side (sitting position from left to right - Kuanlin, Seongwoo, Jihoon, Daehwi, Jinyoung, Daniel, Jisung, Sungwoon, Woojin, Jaehwan, Minhyun). To be honest, The only memeber who is good at drawing is Minhyun. After all the members have shown their drawings, the lucky draw box has been brought up to the stage and let the members randomly picked the lucky audiences who will receive their drawings as a gift. Wanthida and I were so jealous of those lucky fans since both of our seats numbers were picked multiple times but guess what? different row. #lifesucks TT

Not forgetting the reason of their stardom, they then had a dance class where songs were played at random and they had to dance to it. some korean, some english, and then of course thai. they couldn't keep in the embarrassment as they danced to ‘kho jai lak per tho (ขอใจแลกเบอร์โทร)’ by Yinglee.

the host left the stage for them to perform ‘Never’, ‘Hands on me’ and ‘Burn it up. as a fan project for the boys, when the boys performed burn it up, we all took out orange glow sticks. as the songs has more fiery feeling to it, the orange represented the fire for them as we had as fine. it was beautiful. a dark hall and orange glow sticks. After they finished performing ‘Burn it up’, they all went down the stage and the VTR starts. The VTR is about their daily routine in the practice room and their thoughts about holding a fanmeeting overseas first time.

Wanna one members appeared immediately on the stage after the VTR was ended with new outfits and perform ‘Wanna be (my baby)’, the cute song which talks about the love for their fans.

The show was only half way done. they celebrated Kuanlin’s birthday which is next week but they won't be here so Kuanlin fanclub thailand got him a cake and made a fan video for him telling him how much they cared for him. people were in tears (Natcha was too). In this super sweet moment, something funny was bound to happen. Daniel bought Kuanlin a present from the airport. though unintentionally, the present was something that made all thai fans laugh out loud. it was a buddha locket that you get at thai temples to scare spirits away. yeah, they did not know it. the members got it because it was pretty. The love behind it matters right? (still laughing at the thought of it)

All the love and attention couldn't go to one person. thai fans also worked up a video for all the members. it was another special project. (check out the video by clicking on this link.) by the end of the video, it said that if wanna one trusted us fans, they should turn around. everyone, I repeat, everyone in the audience had a placard saying “we will always be with wanna one” the members welled up a little but Jisung cried when he saw that. He cried. They were grateful for all that we had done and supported them through out. i mean, even i cried. it was all just so beautiful.

To cheer up a bit, DJ Nui had a Q and A time. there was a board outside where people could write their questions for them on post it notes and put it in there. the first questions was for Daehwi. he was interrogated about his showering time. The members all disagreed when he said he only take 20 minutes. He shared his sad story of always being the last to bath as he is bad at rock paper scissors and that's how they decide the order for bathing. Other questions being their favourite thai food. Woojin and Minhyun liked pad thai, Jaehwan prefered curry crab, Sungwoon liked a fruit mangkut (mangosteen) ,which he confused for durian, and jinyoung likes khao phat. they could only answer 2 questions as they took a long time choosing a note.

The moment we with so many things already happened, the show was bound to end. They performed their debut song ‘Energetic’ where as a fan project, we took out our colourful glow stick (pink, yellow and blue.) another pretty sight. wish we could get pictures to support our statements but we were not allowed. sad life. The show ended after they performed ‘Always’ in acoustic version. this song was written by them for their fans. their angelic vocals, softly lit stage and confetti falling making it look so grand.

The boys sang one last time before thanking the audience and leaving. most fangirls cried while they sang. The songs touches the soul of fans.

With heavy hearts, we were told to leave. only the lucky fans who won the hi-touch event were allowed to stay in the hall (the girl beside us won the hi-touch event! jealous much!)

After the fanmeeting event, Wanna One tweeted via their official account about the fanmeeting. Moreover, they even respond thai fans project messages. In the project banner; ‘언제나 원나원과 이 자리에’ means whenever, we will always be with Wanna one, they tweeted ‘워너원도 언제나 워너블과 이 자리에’ which means ‘ Wanna one will always be with Wannable’. (I’m in tears right now)

 

We still have not got enough sleep as we could not stop thinking about the event. Our oppas were so handsome and they were so talented. they tried to make it as entertaining as possible even though they couldn't speak our language. they left that very night but we are still starstruck. We hope we can see them next time.
